Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Seamstress/Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction and alterations, also knowledge in heat transfer demonstrating expertise in both traditional tailoring techniques and modern practices. This role involves alterations for firefighter, police, and military uniforms and attire. Including, dress coat alterations for Class A and Honor Guard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tailoring and alteration tasks, including resizing, reshaping, and repairing garments.
- Take precise measurements and assess garment fit to make necessary adjustments.
- Utilizing heat transfer techniques.
- Execute sewing tasks using various techniques such as hand-finishing, hemming, and adjusting garment seams.
- Work with different types of fabrics, ensuring careful handling and application of appropriate techniques for each material.
- Consult with clients to understand their needs, provide expert advice, and ensure satisfaction with the final product.
- Maintain accurate records of alterations and modifications made to each garment.
- Keep the work area organized and clean, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends and tailoring techniques to offer clients the best service possible.
- Willingness to run embroidery and heat press machine, as needed and requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a seamstress/tailor with a strong portfolio of completed work.
- Proficiency in various sewing techniques and familiarity with both hand and machine sewing, blind stitch, straight stitch, serger machine, and button machine.
- Knowledge of heat transfer is a plus.
- Ability to work with a wide range of fabrics and garment types.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make precise adjustments.
- Good communication skills and a client-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training in tailoring, or a related field.
- Experience with uniform tailoring and custom garment creation.
